The surprising reason you’re living paycheck to paycheck!

And how to roll away the reproach and stop struggling financially!

Overwhelmed, stressed, feeling overwhelmed, living pay check to pay check, struggling financially

Do you work like an elephant but eat like an ant? Are you struggling financially and living pay check to pay check? Does money always seem to run away from you? Have you ever stopped to ask why you’re struggling financially? Why you’re living pay check to pay check? Why money never meets money in your hands? Why always you?

No not a wilderness experience!

We all have periods of lack for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes, God allows Christians to go through a wilderness experience to humble them and teach them to depend on Him (see Deuteronomy 8). However, what I am talking about here is where there is constant and continuous financial insufficiency and lack, with no end in sight! You can’t seem to ever make ends meet. You never have sufficiency for your needs. You always live from hand to mouth. No matter how much you earn, you can never save a dime- no matter how hard you try. Money never meets money in your hands or bank accounts – you never receive money until what you have is completely spent. In fact, money seems to run away from you. You always makes the wrong financial decisions.

There is one reason why this is happening to you. There is a reproach on your life!

There is one reason why this is happening to you. There’s a reproach on your life caused either by a self-inflicted curse or a generational curse!

Reproach is disgrace, discredit, or shame. It is suffering in the midst of abundance. It is seen in anything that is a cause or an occasion of shame. In the case of the children of Israel, it sounds really bizarre that they had entered the Promised Land and yet still ate manna (which was wilderness food). They still had the mentality of slaves, and they needed to be emancipated by the Lord. Reproach is being so close to your breakthrough but not able to touch it. Reproach is making the wrong financial and investment decisions. Reproach is anything that causes people to shake their heads in disbelief when they hear your story.

Self-inflicted curses

There are people who might need deliverance even though they have become Christians. This is especially important where they were dedicated to the devil (through Satanic altars) before they came to know the Lord; this often happens when people dabble into any kinds of demonic activity through any of the following:

  • communing with the dead
  • consulting satanic agents
  • visiting shrines
  • joining a white-garment “church” and taking part in demonic rituals
  • palm reading,
  • practising witchcraft, and practising divination through tarots.

Even things as “innocuous” as taking part in pagan dance rituals and festivals, certain carnivals, Reiki and yoga, Ouija boards, astrology, hypnotism, horoscopes, fortune-telling, divination, gambling, magic, and psychic readings can expose you to satanic contamination and evil influences.

Generational curses

People may also need deliverance because of a generational curse. This is where their ancestors made covenants on their behalf with an agent of the devil. This would be the case if any of their 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents or 16 great-great grandparents went into the occult or practised sorcery or divination or consulted mediums or witch doctors or were involved in witchcraft at any time in their lives. I have gone as far back as great-great grandparents because the effect of generational curses can last up to the fourth generation! The Bible says in Exodus 20:5(KJV) “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.” [My emphasis.]

Our ancestors sinned, but they have died—and we are suffering the punishment they deserved!

Lamentations 5:7(NLT)

Evil family patterns.

If there are negative traits which you noticed in your parents, which you hated such as alcoholism, anger, child abuse, adultery, wife abuse etc and which you can now see in your own life, then you’re under bondage. You need to be set free! Also, if you notice a pattern of things in your family among your siblings or other family members, such as alcoholism, suicide, anger, adultery, miscarriage, divorce, not getting married until a certain, getting divorced at a certain time, not having children until a certain time, etc then you need to seek help.

But I am born again!

These things won’t go away simply because you’re now born again! They need to be specifically dealt with! In the same way that you can be saved and be poor unless you apply the Biblical principles for prosperity, you can be saved and be under the devil’s yoke of oppression! There are principles laid out by God in the Bible which need to be applied for you to enjoy true freedom in Christ.

These are some of the issues I discuss in my highly acclaimed manual on spiritual warfare, The Ultimate Guide to Spiritual Warfare: Learn to Fight from Victory, Not for Victory! The book includes guidance on how do discern curses, and contains breakthrough and deliverance prayers. For everything you need to know about the book, and to read a sample chapter please click here

Seek help. Don’t bury your head in the sand!

If any of these things apply to you, ask a pastor with insight into spiritual warfare to pray for you. Jesus will set you free. I am also available to minster to anyone who is in need of deliverance.
